Dilhani Prasangika Silva is known as Asha Edirisingha, is a Sri Lankan award winning Celebrity who is mostly popular for her acting skills, singing skills and Television anchoring skills. She is one of the most successful actresses in Sri Lankan Television Industry, since 1995 where is began her career as a child artist. She is the recipient of numerous awards & accolades, such as the most popular actress of the year in Raigam Tele Awards, State Awards and Sumathi Tele Awards. Asha is known as an Actress, Singer, Model, Television Host, Producer and mostly known for one of the most respected and disciplined artists in the Sri Lankan Entertainment Industry. Asha Edirisingha is currently working as one of the Directors of “Adfinity Productions Pvt Ltd", Sri Lanka since 2010. As a multi-talented artist, Asha also worked as a producer and assistant director for some of her home productions. Asha’s native language is Sinhalese and practicing Buddhist values as a Buddhist. She currently lives in Kotte, Sri Lanka.
Early Life
Asha was born in Colombo on 30th October. Her mother, Chandrani D. Edirisinghe is the lady of the house and father late Mr. Chandrasena Silva was a businessman. Her elder brother, Nadil Prabath Silva, who used to be a Veterinary Surgeon and now working as an Audiologist based in Sweden. Dilhani’s mother used to call her by the nickname of “Asha (wish – desire)” which later became her celebrity-name attached with her mother’s surname. She made her acting debut as a child artist with “Girikula Andaraya” – (1995) with her celebrity name “Asha Edirisingha” while still in school. Asha is having such a beautiful bond with her family members and lost her father in May, 2015. This loss of her beloved father, made her to look in to her life deeper and add more serene qualities in to her personality as a human being.
Educational background
She had her primary education at Kularathna Maha Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda. And then she studied at Moraketiya Maha Vidyalaya, Embilipitiya. Then she moved to the Gampaha District with her family where she chooses to study at Senarath Paranawithana School, Udugampola for a short period of time. There onward she studied at Yashodara Devi Girl’s School, Gampaha where she finished her higher studies while making memorable memories as a daughter of Yashodara Devi School. Even though Asha says that “I wasn’t a bright student at school” whenever she described her early life, she finished her Advanced Levels (A/L) studies in Commerce stream successfully with A grades in Subjects. Then she graduated from University of Kelaniya - (Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies) with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce.
As a smart person she never distracted by her immense popularity or career achievements to stop her education. She kept continuing advancing herself with education. She further studied coding and cyber security to enhance her knowledge in IT base activities as well. She keeps adding various ingredients to her life making it more beautiful and meaningful to everyone around her.
